Blue Monday is back in Houston Texas. That's right. Houston's own Sonny Boy Terry Band and Midtown's Junction Bar and Grill are bringing back The Original Blue Monday Blues Jam and Open Mic from 8:30PM - 12:30AM starting on April 9th, 2012. Sonny Boy Terry ran his former band leader, legend Joe Guitar Hughes' jam every Monday at Evening Shadows in Third Ward/Southpark on Old Spanish Trail in the early nineties and in the late nineties, as his own band leader, Sonny Boy Terry hosted his own jam at the city's top blues room Billy Blues.
A veteran of Houston's blue scene, Sonny Boy Terry has recorded and worked with many legends in the blues and rock world from Joe Guitar Hughes, Johnny Copeland, Calvin Owens and Roy Head to Brownsville Station's H Bomb Weck and Mark Andes of Heart/Spirit/Firefall fame. Sonny Boy Terry founded the Houston Blues Society in 1993 while running Joe Hughes' residency jam at Club Matinee. In 2010 The Sonny Boy Terry Band represented Houston in Memphis TN for the International Blues Competition sponsored by the Blues Foundation after winning Houston's reginal competition. He also has tweo excellent albums released on the Austin imprint Doc Blues Records.
Considered Houston's top blues harmonica player, Sonny Boy Terry mixes jazz, rock, country, roots rock, and gospel in his soulful up termpo sound.
